Cheers to Bitcoin’s 14-Year Anniversary

Recently, I and my crypto enthusiast friends celebrated bitcoin’s 14-year anniversary.

We got together, drank a few beers and smoked a few cigars, and slept on the sidewalk.

See on January 3 2009, the world's first bitcoin was born and it was a total game-changer. And at the time, it was worth about as much as the lint in your pocket (aka $.0008). But 14 years later today:

  • Bitcoin has a market cap of $325.72 B

  • Bitcoin is accepted as legal tender in countries like El Salvador and the Central African Republic.

  • Bitcoin has helped people from the war-torn countries receive food and body armor

If you don't know what bitcoin is:

  • Bitcoin is a legit digital currency that lets you send and receive digital money securely without a bank.

  • Bitcoin is accepted as a secure form of payment by a growing number of merchants and organizations, including Microsoft and AT&T.

  • The maximum amount of bitcoins to ever exist will be 21 million. Mining difficulty increases as more bitcoin are mined to increase it’s perceived value. Last bitcoin will be mined in 2140.

So let's raise a virtual glass and toast to another 14 years of Bitcoin making all our zillionaire dreams come true. Here's to you, Bitcoin!

That's all for today

See y’all soon.

Rohit
